Vancouver, BC Travel Guide

how to spend a weekend in vancouver, british columbia

nick & i had the chance to visit BC together for the first time & spend a few days exploring! we loved getting to experience a new food + coffee scene which always seems to be our favorite part of visiting new cities!

thanks to friends for sharing recommendations with us so we had a lay of the land before we got there! have you ever been? what are your favorite spots?

here's where we went & loved for food, coffee & hanging out!

stay —

the burrard hotel

first off, here's where we stayed! how cute is this hotel?! it's a remodeled 1950s motor lodge full of color & fun details right in the heart of vancouver. use code "SAMANTHA" for 15% off your booking & have a free snack pack waiting for ya when you arrive! click HERE to book.

breakfast/coffee —

nelson & the seagull

this spot was a dream! totally reminded me of a shop in Amsterdam. some of the most amazing toast i've had (stole a few bites of nick's, of course) & enjoyed the freshest, tastiest salad! definitely recommend this spot for breakfast. super affordable as well!

nemesis coffee

excellent coffee, friendliest staff, amazing toast! if we lived in the area this would definitely be our work/hang spot. such a perfect vibe! don't miss this place.

propoganda coffee

propaganda coffee

cute vibe, nick's pour-over was spot-on & my matcha was great. lots of natural light + solid place to chill for a while. another awesome work/hang spot.

le marche st george

le marché st. george

okay hear me out — the crepe that i had here was better than any crepe that i had in Paris last year. it was perfectly soft, buttery & melted in your mouth. also had a perfect little london fog as well! nick had a quiche & it was great, too. also just the cutest little interior ever!

dinner/drinks —

la mezcaleria

we headed here for dinner our first night & had the BEST seared ahi tacos & some good chips + guac. fun vibe, too. seemed like a cool spot to head out to with a group! it was pitch black in there so i couldn't grab any photos without whipping out my iPhone flash & being *that* person so i grabbed a photo of the front of the restaurant the following day.

other honorable mentions that i wasn't able to grab photos of:

meet in gastown

this was an awesome vegan spot! we had a vegan burger, fries & vegan chicken wings. we both got some of their specialty sodas — all around, great meal!

soft peaks ice cream

soft serve with all kinds of flavor/topping combos! i got a swirl soft serve with corn flakes & strawberries & hot fudge. always a sucker for these kinds of treats!

oyster bar

if you're a seafood/oyster fan — try to make your way to an oyster bar here! everything's so fresh. we ended up having a weird experience at the place we went to so i won't recommend it specifically, but i'd encourage you to find one of your own!

can't wait to come back one day & get a chance to see the nature side of canada. banff + jasper + whistler are high up on my list! let me know if you have any recommendations for those parts of the country— i'd love to hear 'em!
